Fwd: Old desks

I was given the keys to my new office today, along with a big, heavy, leather-topped, academic looking monolith that will serve as my desk for the next year.

While trying to figure out why some of the drawers wouldn't open, I discovered loads of old papers and envelopes and things, all jammed in the very back - and very dirty! - part of the desk, behind all the drawers. Clearly, no one had thought to clear out that part in a very long time!

These yellowed bits of paper were the oldest things in the desk - the newspaper is part of the Brooklyn section of the Mail and is dated July 11th,1956. The calendar pages are even older - June 29th & 30th, 1944.

Let this be a lesson to you to always check every part of your desk before passing it on to someone else!

PS: yes, that ad in the paper is for a 'Portrait Bra', selling for only $2.50 - "To mold you into a perfect picture..." :)

Check to see if there is a secret drawer with some old money left behind.
