the dangers of knitting

So I was on the subway the other day, and this girl was standing next to me in the train knitting with a small-ish circular needle (it was burgundy, with golden yellow stripes - very Harry Potter-esque. Probably a sleeve or a sock - next time I'll remember to ask!) Suddenly this older woman stood up and (somewhat rudely) forced the knitter to sit down, because she was so concerned that this girl would fall and poke out the eye of the kid sitting on the sideways-facing seats near to us.

Who knew that knitting could be so dangerous to people sitting more that a meter away from you!
(don't tell the airport security people!) :)

Awesome!

I think that the world really is frightened of knitting. It's like watching some arcane magic take place, in front of your eyes, and still not being able to understand it. It's mystery, magic, and offends the sensibilities.

Perhaps she wasn't being rude. Perhaps she was showing respect for a practitioner of the Dark Arts.

You still haven't said a word about how your academic year has gone. Believe it or not, some of us are curious.
