Last week we had four days of very heavy rain in Vancouver - but at Whistler, that amounted to almost 80cm/30 inches of fresh snow! We headed up bright and early yesterday morning, and were greeted with a beautiful sunny day.
Here's the view from 7th Heaven, a ski area at the top of Blackcomb mountain.

If you look closely at this picture, you can see a snow covered lake - its the half-round indent in the snow, just above the group of people near the centre of the photo (its partly covered by the debris from a recent avalanche). Here's a shot of that same lake last summer, looking back up to the spot from which this winter photo was taken! :)

The snow conditions were fantastic yesterday - knee deep powder that wasn't too heavy and damp (as coastal powder so often is). We even managed to get in some tree skiing! (don't worry Elizabeth, we won't make you do this!) ;) |
We had such a great day of skiing yesterday - who's coming with us next time?! :)
