What did you all do for New Years Eve this year? Mike and I decided to host a little soiree for my extended family - kind of a last minute decision, but fun all the same. Here are my lovely parents - don't they look like they're having fun?! :)
In preparation, I made about three different kinds of appetizers - the best one of the three were these Mini Chicken B'Steeyas, a Moroccan-inspired recipe courtesy of Martha Stewart.
You mix up the chicken filling
roll it in phyllo pastry
place the rolls on a baking sheet, brush them with melted butter, and freeze them on the sheet for an hour before transferring them to an airtight container.
When you're ready to eat them, take them out and bake them for 20 minutes, then (if you want) sprinkle them with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Mmmmm! So yummy! :)
By Sunday, Mike and I decided that we'd better start working off all that yummy holiday food, so we headed up to Cypress Mountain for a little cross-country skiing.
It hasn't snowed in several days, but there was a thick frost everywhere that made the snow look like it had been covered in feathers.
I'd forgotten how nice it is to have such beautiful (almost) wilderness only 30 minutes from the city!
Have a great 2011 everyone! :)

Happy New Year! I tried the Martha B'Steela recipe thanks to your blog. They were great! The phylo dough is hard to work with though!!
